The Company was founded in 1958 by António Oliveira Leitão. After a reorganization and expansion, it became limited company in 1985 and adopted the corporate name of Oliveira Leitão & Pena, Lda. From July 2001 it was transformed into a public limited company and its corporate name was changed to Oliveira Leitão & Pena, S.A. It has a share capital of 600.000 euros.
Oliveira Leitão & Pena. SA is a company dedicated to the pharmaceutical sector, in its community and hospital aspects, with extensive experience in the sales area, having a commercial team dedicated to its customers.
It has invested deeply in its restructuring and modernization, with the objective of improving the quality of service provided to its customers. During 2007, it proceeded to a functional restructuring and completed its certification process of its quality management system, being presently The only pharmaceutical distribution company of the central group of the Azores archipelago, with NP EN ISO 9001: 2015 certification, issued by the Certification Body TÜV RHEINLAND PORTUGAL, Lda.
The company has a privileged location in the city of Angra do Heroísmo where it has its headquarters and warehouse. In 2014 as part of the expansion strategy opens a new warehouse on São Miguel Island, recently acquired Picofarma LDA, on Pico Island. With this acquisition to Oliveira Leitão & Pena S.A. It is the company in the field of distribution of thick medicines of the Azores with the highest geographical coverage.
The year 2022 is marked with the beginning of the construction of a new warehouse on Terceira Island. This warehouse will bring another response ability to requests from customers and suppliers.
